Are e-Readers the Next Big Advertising Platform?
The increasing trend in e-readers sales may lead us into a question: are e-readers the next big advertising platform?
Apple, last quarter, reported selling of 11.1 million tablet—up 166 percent from the previous year. Bloomberg estimates e-readers and tablet market could reach $77.4 billion by 2015. By 2012, according to eMarketer, 12 percent of adults will own e-reader.
Amzon rolled out its $114 advertising-supported “Kindle With Special Offers” e-reader in 2011. “Brand marketers seeking to reach book enthusiast have a new medium at their disposal with the ad-supported kindle,” Paul Verna of eMarketer says.
