iPhone 4S Camera Auto Focus Does Not Work
An iPhone 4S user posted a YouTube video with a note says that his iPhone 4S camera auto focus simply does not work when shooting video. Having said that, what he means is that camera of the iPhone 4S “does not re-focus itself”. According to the user, 3 friends of him also have the same issue. He has called the tech support (Apple’s?) who eventually suggested him to restore his new iPhone 4S “which is reinstalled iOS5”.
Folks at Macworld responded the post by testing his own and his friend’s iPhone 4S and confirmed that “yes, there’s an issue, but its consistency can’t be counted on”. It seems that there is a constant issue with iPhone 4S camera auto-focus.
“In the meantime, if you really need to focus on a subject and your iPhone seems incapable of it, give the screen a very gentle tap to focus,” he suggested.
We think Apple should seriously take care of this camera auto-focus issue, not by suggesting users to only restore their iPhone which does “not cure the problem”, as the YouTube poster said. Her is the video post:

You should not have to tap to focus the 4S. Apple post this feature as a big breakthrough. When you are trying to get a smooth shot in video and you tap the iphone you jerk the camera and ruin the smooth shot unless you got the iphone strapped to a brick.
I think apple screwed up, autofocus is a must in my book.
