How Siri Does (or Does Not) Really Work
Since the adoption of what famously called ‘Siri’ technology on the new Apple’s iPhone 4S, the discussion around it is evolved. Most tech blogs and media getting excited to talk about the technology. Some folks even questioning (themselves?) if ‘Siri’ is a woman or a man, which is funny. But that is, again, how people get so excited about the technology, and many people still have no idea on how to make Siri really works as it is expected.
Customers who spent hours at Apple’s store line around the world on Friday have been trying to communicate with the so expected “new personal assistant”, ‘Siri’. Folk at Endgaget reported that he asked ‘Siri’ a favor to open a map in Canada, and Siri answer politely, “Sorry I don’t know….”. The same “I don’t know” answer was out when it was asked about what time it was in the same area (Canada). A big question: does (or doesn’t) ‘Siri’ really work?
Bunch of Youtube videos pouring—show how folks use their new “personal assistant”—the ‘Siri’—just for the sake of showing-off excitement rather than helping others. Go googling, you will find hundreds (if not thousands) of them.
MacRumors says that “many of the voice commands for Dragon Dictation also work in Siri’s Dictation service on the iPhone 4S” and points out an “extensive dictation commands for Siri”—which is yes, that’s the most extensive list I found so far for dictation (I didn’t click the download button offers—that may have more commands in the package).
I am not quiet sure about it, but I found a sound good (and funny) infographic by Nitrozack and Snaggy, published by The Joy of Tech, titled “How Siri *Really* Works?” Have a look:
So, how’s ‘Siri‘ with you, does he/she really work?
